Ziggy is our young Gypsy Cob stallion. He is "bred in the blue" and you will have a hard time finding better bloodlines in a stallion. Ziggy is sired by the one and only "Legend Boy" (by "The Old Black Horse," by "The Coal Horse": out of "The Mushy Mare"), and is out of the good mare "Splash CR" (by "The Buck Horse," by "Road Sweeper": out of the Vines bred mare called "The Ace Mare"). At coming four years of age, Ziggy currently stands about 14 hands.
Not only is Ziggy bred in the blue, he has the outstanding conformation, silky feather, and temperment to prove it. He has a great topline with an archy neck trying into a sloping shoulder, short back, and well muscled haunches. Ziggy has one of the most attractive heads I have seen on any breed of horse. He has nice action, and he often paces when he walks, which is a rare trait in the breed! Ziggy has a really pretty, silky mane and an incredibly thick tail. Ziggy's feather is the wonderfully silky kind that is so sought after, and he has plenty of it too. Under all that feather are Ziggy's amazing hooves. You won't find better feet on a horse. And true to the gypsy breed, Ziggy has a wonderful disposition.
We are currently accepting bookings for the 2008 breeding season. Limited number of outside mares accepted, so don't wait. Legend Boy's 2007 stud fee was $2,500. Don't miss your chance to breed to these bloodlines in such a quality gypsy cob for a fraction of the cost!!
Ziggy's 2008 stud fee will be $1000 for gypsy mares, $850 for other feathered breeds (Shire, Clydesdale, Friesian, etc.), and $700 for non-feathered breeds. A $250 booking fee is included in the stud fee. We will be able to offer live cover, on farm A.I., or shipped semen (a $250 collection fee, and shipping charges will apply). Mare care will be $7/day dry and $10/day wet. LFG. Ziggy settled 75% of the mares bred in 2006 on the first cycle (using A.I. and live cover)! Ziggy also settled his first mare bred with shipped semen on the first shipment! His numbers are excellent for a young stallion!
*****Only 5 gypsy mares, 5 feathered non-gypsy mares, and 5 non-feathered mares will be accepted in 2008! Book early to assure yourself a spot*****
*****UPDATE: Only 2 spots left for non-feathered mares! Book now to assure yourself a spot!*****
*****Multiple Mare Discount!*****

The 2008 show season has started with a bang! Ziggy is competing in the Versatility Ranch Horse shows held at Doubletree Horse Farms in Delta, CO and April 5, 2008 was the first show. Ziggy did fantastic, especially since it was only his second time on cows! He was the only horse entered in the Junior Horse class this show, so it was too hard to get first in all the classes ;) But that aside, even with some competition, I think he would have done well. This is a great example of the versatility of this breed! For pictures of this event, click the link below.

Ziggy is maturing into a very beautiful stallion.

Ziggy has got a beautiful face with a bit of blue in each eye. It's what the gypsy breeders call "China Eyes."

The 2007 show season was short, but very rewarding. We attended the Parker Gypsy, Draft, and Haflinger Show at the Colorado Horse Park again this year. Ziggy was in the Stallions 3-4 years old classand finished third against some very tough competition.
But what really made me proud was how well he did at the draft horse barrel racing! This was Ziggy's first time doing barrels, and my friend Trine Bohnsdalen (fellow trainer and equine photograhper), who showed Ziggy for me, had also never done barrels before. They ended up taking first place out of seven entries! Way to go Ziggy and Trine!
Ziggy also was ridden for the first time in the Gypsy Horse English pleasure class and was very well behaved despite the fact that he was a bit nervous ;)

Riding Ziggy bareback one evening. Please pardon the light spots in the picture. I thought they made the picture kind of neat :)

Going through the tarp curtain. No big deal for the tough guy!

King of the Mountain! I took Ziggy over to the platform to take a look at it. I didn't think he would just step up on it!

This is The Old Black Horse, sire of Legend Boy and producer of some of the best gypsy horses in the world. He is over 25 in the photo, and his feather is muddy and matted, but he is still amazing.

This is Splash CR, Ziggy's beautiful dam. She is sired by "The Buck Horse" (now known as "The Producer") who is sired by the original "Road Sweeper." She is out of a Vine's bred mare called "The Ace Mare".
